Is NASA not capable of carrying heavy weight to the Moon now?

SpaceX, the big daddy company has been called S.H.I.E.L.D taking down a space coup. Quite literally.
After the contract to launch gateway aboard their biggest rocket “The Falcon Heavy”,
NASA has commissioned SpaceX and some other companies to build the lunar lander for Artemis.
Unlike Apollo, SLS doesn’t have a lunar lander built in, as the EAGLE was just for taking humans down and back up to orbit, its also called a coke can with duck tape. This time NASA wants to do more than just walk (one small step for man and one leap to win the USA - USSR space race, wont work anymore) so they are taking advantage of SPS or space pre-staging. SpaceX wants to use a starship variant (aka moon-starship) to achieve this feat. They plan to fly a starship into orbit on a SUPERHEAVY and orbit fuel, then off to moon. But what if the king Starship isn’t ready by then. Obviously Elon is Elon and is ready for anything, so he has decided that in the case that they cant prep starship, Daddy heavy (*Falcon Heavy) will be ready to save the day with a more traditional lander.
So do you think NASA even has any point to develop SLS, well articles on that coming soon.
